TAFI Constitution

Article I: Name

This organization shall be known as Turkish Angora Fanciers, International (“TAFI”).

Article II: Affiliation

This organization shall be a non-profit club affiliated with The Cat Fanciers' Association, Inc. No part of any profit, dues, or donations to this organization shall be used to benefit any member or individual.

Article III: Objectives

The objects of the organization shall be:

a. To promote the welfare of all cats;

b. To promote and improve the breeding of the Turkish Angora cat worldwide to the standards as accepted by CFA, and to promote the Turkish Angora cat within CFA through social, recreational and hobby activities;

c. To protect the Turkish Angora from the loss of any of its naturally evolved features;

d. To encourage selective breeding toward the health and breed standard;

e. To encourage harmony, friendship and the free exchange of information among breeders and fanciers of Turkish Angora cats and all cat fanciers; and

f. To publicize and educate the international public about Turkish Angoras and cats in general;

g. To sponsor cat shows and exhibits.

Article IV: Membership

Any persons interested in the objectives of this organization shall be eligible for membership subject to the requirements as delineated in the Bylaws.

Article V: Officers

The officers of this organization shall consist of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. In addition to the four officers, there shall be two Directors At Large. These individuals shall be elected by the membership and serve as the Executive Board (hereafter referred to as the “BOD”). The President shall be chairperson of the BOD. All offices shall be held by individuals and shall not be combined. Officers must be active breeders or exhibitors at the time of their election.

Article VI: Meetings

Section 1:

Regular, Annual, and Special meetings of this organization shall be held as provided in Article III of the By-Laws.

Section 2:

All meetings shall be held as electronic conferences, with the exception of meetings held in conjunction with shows sponsored by TAFI or meetings held at the CFA Annual or other meetings or the CFA International Show. All other formal communication within the organization shall be accomplished electronically as delineated in the By-Laws.

Article VII: Amendments

This Constitution and the accompanying By-Laws may be amended as follows:

The text of the amendment and explanation of the proposed change must be submitted electronically to the Secretary, who shall make the full proposal available as a text or Word document file. This file shall be uploaded to the club's files at least thirty (30) days prior to the conclusion of voting.

The membership shall have at least fourteen (14) days to respond to mail or e-mail asking for their vote. The Secretary shall then tabulate all votes cast and post the final results as delineated in Article XII of the By-Laws. The Constitution and Bylaws may be amended by a 2/3 majority of the votes received from the eligible membership.

An electronic copy of this Constitution and accompanying Bylaws incorporating all approved amendments shall be placed, and maintained, in this organization’s business records archives with its associated online group. A copy of this Constitution and Bylaws, incorporating all approved amendments, and signed by the Secretary, shall be submitted to the Cat Fanciers Association, Inc. for their acceptance and filing.

Article 5. Dissolution

This Association shall be a non-profit organization; no part of the net proceeds of which may inure shall be distributed to the benefit of any individual or profit-making organization. In the event of dissolution of the Association for any reason, all of its assets after payment of its just obligations, shall be: distributed by the Executive Council to the Winn Feline Foundation in accordance with Article XIII of the Bylaws.
